The
Editor
Dr. William Blackhall (BSc/MSc/PhD), the Editor, is
originally from Canada but now lives in Germany. His early
training in zoology led to a BSc from the University of
Guelph in Wildlife Biology. After working at Canada's
National Museum of Natural Sciences (now the Museum of
Nature) in Canada's capital, Ottawa, Dr. Blackhall entered
the field of plant breeding with the Alberta Wheat Pool,
BioTechnica Canada, and Pioneer Hi-Bred International.
Eventually, his interests turned to the molecular aspects
of life, particularly genetics. A return to university led
to an MSc from the University of Alberta in molecular
phylogenetics of fish and a PhD in the molecular genetics
of drug resistance in parasites from McGill University in
Montreal. Dr. Blackhall has conducted scientific research
at universities in Canada, Australia, and Europe and has
edited biological documents over a period of 15 years. Dr.
Blackhall is a member of the European Association of
Science Editors.
